Emmanuel Adebayor is one of those players who has been consistent, in that he has never reached his full potential; and never will. Football fans and the media alike have used a whole list of expletives to describe the player. The highly rated goal-machine Edin Dzeko has now arrived at Eastlands; a move which has surely put the final nail in Adebayor's coffin (at least in the Premier League).
As an avid football fan I sometimes look at Emmanuel Adebayor and see him as a simply incredible talent.I think he has been almost unplayable on some occasions, but nowhere frequently enough to be considered world class. His volatile temperament (similar to one Mario Balotelli) has been there for all to see over the years he has had in England. Reported arguments over wage demands and his general attitude to his game will ensure he will never reach the heights of some of Europe's finest clubs. His demeanor as a professional footballer was opitimised by his disgusting stamp on former team mate Robin Van Persie; just re-emphasising what so many people already believed.
I imagine Adebayor and Mario Balotelli to be incredibly similar, the only difference being that Balotelli has more time to put it right. Both players come across as being truly arrogant, with a poor attitude towards the beautiful game. You also get the feeling that as long as the bank balance stays healthy, we may not see too much change in the way Adebayor conducts himself. On the positive side of things, he has scored on 15 occasions from a total of 34 appearances for Man City; not a particularly shabby record given the amount of time he spends on the bench.
Edin Dzeko has now arrived at Man City for what will be his first chance in the Premier League. Given the fact that Adebayor has had one too many of these already, I don't expect to see him wearing a sky blue shirt on many more occasions. Dzeko will be hungry for goals, desperate to make an impression at the peak of the pyramid. His track record speaks for itself; and what he will offer Man City up front will be in a different league to Adebayor's potential contribution.
I expect the Togolese striker's reported move to Juventus will be right up his street. The club lie 6th in Serie A; desperate for goals. It would be refreshing to see Adebayor get his head down at a new club and earn the respect on the pitch that he feels he should automatically have. While this is happening, I expect Edin Dzeko to be getting his head down and showing the Premier League exactly why he was been such a sought after asset in Europe; and to be perfectly honest, I cannot wait!
